The Problem
Feline Friendz, a local cat rescue group, needs a website that makes it simple for viewers to explore the services they offer, get invested, and help out with the organization.
Target Audience
The target audience is adults roughly 25 years and older who are invested in the well-being of the local cat population and/or are looking to utilize Feline Friendz’s services (namely, adoption and trap-neuter-return).
Communication Goal
My goal is to create a user-friendly website for Feline Friendz that is clearly organized, visually appeals to the audience, and forges a connection between the audience and the cats. Ideally, this updated site will inform users about Feline Friendz’s mission and services in a clear manner, make it easy for users to get invested in this organization and the cats they house, provide clear access to Feline Friendz’s main services (cat adoption and trap-neuter-return), and show users how they can give back to the organization.
Solution Rationale
My updated site organizes Feline Friendz's content into five distinct sections: Adopt, Meet Our Cats, Trap-Neuter-Return, Get Involved, and Contact. This hierarchical structure simplifies navigation for users and makes it easy for them to learn about Feline Friendz's most important services.
Visually, the site uses bright red to capture user attention, create ample contrast for accessibility, allude to the organization's Nebraska roots, and contribute to an energetic and motivational visual aesthetic. The site also utilizes a combination of cartoony, thick-line icons and cat photos to visually represent the services Feline Friendz provides and forge a meaningful connection between the audience and the cats waiting to be adopted.
