Hi, I'm Isabella! As a graphic designer, I use careful research and collaboration to create optimistic and approachable work that sparks joy and empowers my community.
What I Do
I recently obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art with a concentration in Graphic Design and minors in Spanish and Art History at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO). I am currently working as a student graphic designer for UNO’s Information Science and Technology Department student work group (known as "The Attic").
Design Philosophy
As a designer, I seek well-rounded projects that involve many pieces of the design puzzle, such as the creation of holistic systems and brand identities. My preference is to design projects that benefit and empower my community. Design is a useful tool, and my goal is currently to pursue opportunities where I can make a positive difference in the lives of others.
I strive to create products that are approachable and caring. These traits allow me to achieve my goal of creating for the community and inspiring others. I also value balance and reliability because these qualities ensure my message is received clearly and appropriately.
Design Highlights
I was proud to fulfill my goal of empowering the community while completing an internship for two summers at the Girl Scouts Spirit of Nebraska. There, I designed a variety of materials promoting female empowerment and positive youth activities. In addition, I recently contracted with the Omaha Police Department and designed logos for their Safe 2 Help program, which aims to improve school safety throughout Douglas County, Nebraska. While working at the UNO Attic, I have also had the opportunity to work on designs for various community-based clients, including UNMC, CodeCrush, and the Stephen Center.
Influence & Inspiration
I find value in designing optimistic, youthful work inspired by my lifelong love of cartoons, games, and illustrated books. Adding a hint of youthful positivity through vibrant colors and fun illustrations is a tribute to my original sources of inspiration. Designing for the Girl Scouts, as well as for the Safe 2 Help campaign, allowed me to tap into this inspiration and design empowering materials for a younger audience.
Other Interests
When I am not designing, I am most likely drawing portraits of people or pets. Although my career path lies in visual art, music is equally important to me. I love playing classical piano, playing guitar, and discovering new music. To relax, I enjoy reading, taking walks, cooking, playing games, and most importantly, spending time with my family and pets.
