Responsibilities: Logo Design, Print/Layout, Merchandise
The Problem
Students, parents, and community members need a simple, secure, and anonymous way to submit or relay any school-related concerns so the appropriate professionals can address and resolve these issues. Safe2Help, an anonymous tip line created to fulfill these needs, needs a recognizable visual identity that is welcoming to all students.
To help the Omaha Police Department establish a visual identity for the app and its supporting materials, I was commissioned to create a set of logos for Safe2Help. The audience for this project is primarily students within the K-12 age range. The main objective was to design a logo that was visually inviting to students of any age and represented the state of Nebraska.
My goal is to establish a memorable visual indicator that kids of all ages find inviting and easy to remember, represents the state of Nebraska, and evokes a sense of comfort and support. Safe2Help should make families and kids feel welcome reporting any issues.
Target Audience
The target audience for this project includes students from grades K-12 in the Omaha/Douglas County area (and eventually, all of Nebraska), as well as parents, teachers, and other community members.

Rationale
Conceptually, the logo fosters a sense of connection; the "2" links the words "safe" and "help", while the linked hands create a sense of support and comfort. The outline of the state of Nebraska links and houses the main content, reflecting that this service is here to support Nebraska families. The shades of blue add a splash of color that, on a superficial level, is appealing to kids. On a deeper level, blue signifies trust, understanding, and dependability. Blue also alludes to the visual identity of the Omaha Police Department, which played a major role in implementing this project. Overall, this design is meant to make students and their families feel welcome when seeking help.
