The Problem
As the environment continues to degrade, it is becoming increasingly crucial for individuals to step up and implement more eco-friendly habits into their lifestyles. Converte seeks to understand the ways in which individuals can reduce household waste by implementing changes in their daily lives, as well as how this information can be most effectively communicated.
Target Audience
Through this project, I am targeting the household habits of young adults and the environmental impact of these habits. Many young adults are genuinely invested in the state of the environment but do not feel sufficiently educated in environmental solutions, making them feel overwhelmed and uncertain about starting their eco-friendly journey. My interviews with young adults and environmental experts reaffirmed that there is indeed a need for greater awareness about environmental issues and the wide range of actions that can be taken on an individual basis to reduce the consequence of these issues.
Communication Goal
To combat the stated issues, key information about the changes individuals can make to reduce their daily household waste must be presented in an understandable and easily accessible manner.
The Solution
I designed a mobile app that provides users with information about household tasks they can incorporate into their lifestyles in order to become more environmentally-friendly and gives them ways to keep track of their daily habits and improvements over time. Most young adults carry smartphones with them at all times and often use them as their primary reference tool, making this platform the ideal way to carry out my solution
What is Converte?
Converte is a smartphone application designed to provide users with information about household tasks they can implement into their lifestyles in order to become more environmentally-friendly, as well as give them ways to keep track of their daily habits and improvements over time.
Converte’s name describes its purpose: to encourage users to convert their lifestyle habits into more environmentally-sustainable actions. The added “e” references verte, a way of saying “green” in French. This ties into the significance of the visual mark; the user’s house gradually becomes more ecologically “green” as they continue to use Converte over time.
Features
Converte is organized into four key sections:
1. Checklist: Lets users keep track of tasks they already complete.
2. Starred List: Lets users keep track of tasks they want to focus on or remember.
3. Guides: These let users easily browse, star, check off, share, and learn about eco-friendly tasks. Guides are categorized according to common household needs.
4. Profile: Allows users to edit personal information and view their achievements.

Promotional Playing Cards
Playing cards are unique, and more importantly, they are permanent rather than disposable (unlike stickers, flyers, and other types of merchandise that eventually get thrown away). Users can learn eco-friendly tips while playing classic games, or even place cards around their home as little reminders to try out Converte's eco-friendly tasks.
Social Media
Converte's social media posts are designed to expose more people to simple eco-friendly tips and increase awareness about environmental issues.
